An individual who laced treats with sedative and gave them to youngsters at a youth camp in the area has admitted sexual offenses against two children who were nine and ten years old.
Jon Ruben was arrested after eight children and one adult became sick at the location in the summer month.
The 76-year-old, from the Nottinghamshire area, confessed to a series of 17 offences when he was present at the courthouse on Friday.
Nevertheless, he disputed one of the sexual offences he was accused of, which was involving a nine-year-old boy.
The defendant was remanded in custody prior to a further hearing on November 28th.
'Sweet game'
The legal representative, presenting evidence, outlined Ruben's offending to the legal proceedings.
She stated his those affected were under-privileged children who were attending a youth camp which he ran.
Ruben conducted a "candy game" with the minors, the prosecutor stated, in which he would access the sleeping quarters when they were getting ready for bed and ask them to eat sweets "as quickly as they can".
She told the court Ruben had played this game with the children "repeatedly", and youngsters had earlier experienced illness the following morning.
She stated Ruben had been able to explain this repeatedly as the children being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had suspicions in recently.
The prosecutor continued: "Recently" his stepson had suspicions about what was going on, for good reason.
"They resolved" to examine in the defendant's belongings."
The prosecutor said materials including baby oil, ointment and medical needles were found, and his stepchild contacted the law enforcement about his suspicions.
She said the man went on to engage in the "sweet game" with six children that night - that Saturday - and they were everyone unwell the next day.
"Authorities" had not responded by that time," she added.
The oversight body, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, earlier informed that it was examining law enforcement's management of the events.
The prosecutor stated the children were struggling to walk due to their sickness, so Ruben's stepson notified the law enforcement once more.
She stated the man then conducted the "treat game" in a room of five children.
